2.2.6 Registration

This service allows you to register the network device in order to access it remotely. By default, the

device is registered using its MAC address but you can also assign your own unique name as long

as this name is still available. Once it is registered, you can then access the device remotely on-

the-road, even when using a dial-up connection without a fixed IP address at home.

Note

Registration is not mandatory. At home, you can also access the device simply by entering its IP

address in the web browser or using other means to connect to the network drive.

1. Enter a unique name (no special characters) for your network drive.

2. Click Register to check if the name is available and register the device. If the name has

already been taken, please enter a new name and try again.

3. Click OK to close the confirmation window.
